A Syrian army defector claims he saw a fellow soldier behead the 7-month-old baby of a man suspected of sheltering rebel fighters.
Mohammed, 22, said he was with Syria’s 11th Armored Division when he witnessed the boy’s murder last June in the northwestern town of Jisr al-Shughur.
He called the mission revenge for the death of 120 members of President Bashar al-Assad’s security forces.
“That was when I decided to defect,” a sobbing Mohammed said from an opposition safe house in Lebanon. “I’ll have to live with that memory forever. We did things I never want to remember.”
UN observers, Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have found evidence that Assad’s forces are targeting rebels’ kids in an effort to crush the revolt. SOURCE
