MA does not use red tags. Red tagged bear are usually from NY or CT. So this bear has traveled!
MA uses two colors to tag bear. Yellow and blue. Yellow is a safety relocation because for example, the bear meandered into downtown W Spfld, had to be tranquilized and relocated.
Blue are research bear. As of September 2016, 18 bear had blue tags in MA, of which also have radio tracking collars. All other blue tagged bears have no collar. Cubs are never radio collared…more:.facebook.com/wsenvironmentalcommittee
