Dozens of people of all faiths came together Sunday afternoon at the Islamic Center of Western Massachusetts to learn about the Islamic faith.

Following multiple violent attacks on places of worship, the Islamic Society of Western Massachusetts felt it was important for people to meet their Muslim neighbors.

Islamic Society’s president Mohammed Dastigir said, “There’s a lot of misconceptions out there, unfortunately, around what Islam really is about. Islam really means ‘peace’ that’s really what it stands for and that’s really what we believe in.”..more : wwlp

Muslims offer ‘wonderful’ gesture of support to local synagogue after…

etz-chaim-synagogue-0.pngA group of Muslim men have offered a “wonderful” gesture to their local Jewish community, after a synagogue was targeted with racist graffiti.

The swastika and a racial slur were daubed on the sign outside the Etz Chaim synagogue in Leeds on Tuesday night, shocking the community.

In response, four local Muslim men brought flowers to show support and solidarity, where they were welcomed by the synagogue. ….more:  independent.co.uk

SPRINGFIELD – The promise of jobs and a remedy for a sick economy are the enticements offered by companies and local leaders who want

to build a casino in downtown Springfield.

But a gathering of about 30 local clergy and lay leaders today presented a litany of statistics suggesting that a casino would instead take away jobs, hurt or close Springfield businesses, harm the moral fabric of the community and prey upon the poor.
