Muslims offer ‘wonderful’ gesture of support to local synagogue after…

etz-chaim-synagogue-0.pngA group of Muslim men have offered a “wonderful” gesture to their local Jewish community, after a synagogue was targeted with racist graffiti.

The swastika and a racial slur were daubed on the sign outside the Etz Chaim synagogue in Leeds on Tuesday night, shocking the community.

In response, four local Muslim men brought flowers to show support and solidarity, where they were welcomed by the synagogue. ….more:  independent.co.uk

On Friday night, Portland witnessed a horrific attack that left two men dead and another victim wounded. These men died defending two girls who could have been victims of a hate crime. The girls, 16 and 17-years-old, are suffering immense trauma in the aftermath of this tragedy. Although they survived, their lives will never be the same as they were being the targets of hate. Germany will support those affected by US travel ban, says Merkel

Germany will support those affectedGerman opposition leader Katja Kipping, who serves as chairperson for the Left Party, said on Monday that the party is exploring legal routes to challenge Trump’s immigration order.
In a tweet, she called on Merkel to summon the US ambassador to Germany and make a complaint to the UN via the EU.

 On Thursday, January 5, 2017, Gus was wrestling with a friend when he accidentally slammed his head into the ground, ultimately breaking his neck. The hit caused a vertebrae in his neck to break into 3 pieces. This has caused partial paralysis for the time being, and is going to require Gus to go through a considerable amount of rehab to get him back on his feet. Next week Gus will be transported from Baystate Medical Center to a facility in Connecticut for rehab to begin his healing process. Thsi will involve him building up his strength and movement abilities to hopefully get him to walk again. Media stereotypes fuel support for anti-Muslim action, new research shows

AMES, Iowa – Craig Anderson is no political scientist. But the Distinguished ProfessCraig Andersonor of psychology at Iowa State University could have predicted voter support for the presidential candidates taking a strong anti-Muslim stand.

Months before the presidential campaign, Anderson and his colleagues conducted a series of studies to gauge the influence of media coverage portraying Muslims as terrorists. According to their results, published in the journal Communication Research, there is a link between negative media stories of Muslims and support for military action and restrictions against Muslims.  ..more:  news.iastate.
