“O Lord! My Community!” (Non-Fiction Story)

Waiting. All human beings will stand there on the Day of Judgement waiting. Waiting barefooted on that big land. Waiting for what, you may ask?

Waiting for Allah* to give the order for the Judgement to begin.

When the distress becomes too great for some people on the Day of Judgement and they have stood for too long, suffering in the heat, terror, discomfort and anxiety, they will surge with each other like waves. They will start searching amongst each other, searching for someone of high status to intercede for them so that Allah may start the judgement.  Some people will be very impatient, indeed. It does not matter to them whether they will be put in Paradise or Hellfire. They just want the judgement to start already.

There are going to be people who will go to prophets to ask for assistance. Some of them even used to be disbelievers when they were on earth! Some of them even used to ridicule Prophet Muhammad or the other prophets! But they don’t care. These disbelievers have become so desperate that even they would now also go to seek help from the prophets too.

So, there they are. These desperate people, some of them Muslims and some of them non-Muslims, they will then start to look for prophets. They are all hoping that the prophets will be able to ask Allah to start the process of judging.

The interesting thing is, they are not intending to ask the Prophets to intercede for them so that Allah can put them into Jannah! Instead, they are intending to ask the Prophets to intercede for them so that Allah can start the Judgement Day already. They are just so tired of waiting for so long.

They want Allah to relief them from the horrible atmosphere that they are currently in. They are in such a state of misery and distress that they don’t seem to mind what happens next. They are getting really impatient!

So, firstly, they will go to Prophet Adam (a.s.*), saying, “O Adam, you are our father. Don’t you see that we’re in such a miserable state. Please intercede for us with your Lord. Ask Him to relief us from all this standing. Please. Can you ask Allah* to begin judgement? Allah s.w.t.* created you with His own Hands¹. He breathed soul into you. He made His angels bow down to you and He taught you the names of everything. (Surely you must be someone special to Allah.)”

Shockingly, Adam (a.s.) will not want to do it for them. He is worried and concerned about himself at the moment.

He will reply, “Nafsi! Nafsi! [Myself! Myself!] My Lord is so angry today as He has never ever been before and He will never be in the future.  I am not fit for the intercession. (You see…) I disobeyed Allah by eating from the tree. Therefore, I feel ashamed. Go to Noah. He is the first messenger that Allah sent to the inhabitants of the earth. Allah called him ‘a thankful slave’.”

So they will go to Prophet Noah (a.s.), but he will say, “Nafsi! Nafsi! [Myself! Myself!] My Lord is so angry today as He has never ever been before and He will never be in the future. I am not fit for the intercession. (You see…) I’ve requested something of my Lord about which I had no (proper) knowledge [see Quran; Chapter 11, Verses 45-46].Therefore, I feel ashamed. Go to Abraham. He is the close friend of the Most Merciful.”

So they will go to Prophet Abraham (a.s.), but he will say, “Nafsi! Nafsi! [Myself! Myself!] My Lord is so angry today as He has never ever been before and He will never be in the future. I am not fit for the intercession. (You see…) I lied three times. I feel ashamed. Go to Moses. He is the one to whom Allah spoke directly. And he is the one to whom Allah gave the Torah.”

So they will go to Prophet Moses (a.s.), but he will say, “Nafsi! Nafsi! [Myself! Myself!] My Lord is so angry today as He has never ever been before and He will never be in the future. I am not fit for the intercession. (You see…) I accidentally killed a man. [see Quran; Chapter 28 Verses 15-16] I feel ashamed. Go to Jesus. He is Allah’s slave, His messenger and His word which He sent to Mary. He is a superior soul created by Allah. He talked to the people when he is still a baby in the cradle.”

So they will go to Prophet Jesus (a.s.) but he will say, “Nafsi! Nafsi! [Myself! Myself!] My Lord is so angry today as He has never ever been before and He will never be in the future. I am not fit for the intercession. Go to Muhammad.”

So they will go to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ * and he will say, “I am fit for the intercession.’

Then he ﷺ will ask Allah for permission and Allah will give him permission.

Allah will inspire Prophet Muhammad ﷺ with words of praise with which he ﷺ will praise Him, words that he ﷺ does not know yet and heard yet before. Then, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ will praise Him using those unique words of praise and he will fall down prostrate before Allah.

Allah s.w.t. will say, “O Muhammad, raise your head. Speak and intercession will be granted to you, ask and you will be given, intercede and your intercession will be accepted.”

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ will say, “Yaa Rabb, ummati! Ummati! (O Lord! My ummah! My ummah!)”

Allah s.w.t. will say, “Go and bring forth everyone in whose heart there is faith the weight of a barley-grain.”

So Prophet Muhammad ﷺ will go and do that. Then he will come back and praise Allah with those special words of praise and he will fall down prostrate before Allah again.

Allah s.w.t. will say, “O Muhammad, raise your head. Speak and intercession will be granted to you, ask and you will be given, intercede and your intercession will be accepted.’

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ will say, “Yaa Rabb, ummati! Ummati! (O Lord! My ummah! My ummah!)”

Allah will say, “Go and bring forth everyone in whose heart there is faith the weight of a small ant or a mustard-seed.”

So Prophet Muhammad ﷺ will go and do that. Then he will come back and praise Allah with those special words of praise and he will fall down prostrate before Allah again.

Allah s.w.t. will say, “O Muhammad, raise your head. Speak and intercession will be granted to you, ask and you will be given, intercede and your intercession will be accepted.”

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ  will say, “Yaa Rabb, ummati! Ummati! (O Lord! My ummah! My ummah!)”

Allah will say, “Go and bring forth from the Fire everyone in whose heart there is faith the weight of the lightest, lightest grain of mustard-seed.’

So Prophet Muhammad ﷺ will go and bring them forth. Alhamdulillah!*

Then Prophet Muhammad ﷺ   will come back a fourth time and praise Allah with those special words of praise and he will fall down prostrate before Him again.

Allah s.w.t. will say, ‘O Muhammad, raise your head. Speak and intercession will be granted to you, ask and you will be given, intercede and your intercession will be accepted.’

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ  will say, ‘O Lord, give me permission (to bring forth) all those who said Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah.’

Allah s.w.t. will say, ‘By My Might, My Majesty, My Supremacy and My Greatness, I will most certainly bring forth from it those who said Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah.’ ***

Isn’t it amazing? Our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ did not even save himself first. Even on the Day of Judgement, his biggest concern is his Ummah*.  While all the other prophets (peace be upon them all) said, “Nafsi! Nafsi!”, our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, “Ummati! Ummati!” instead. SubhanAllah*.
